Configure Profile Sync Rules
Define the conditions under which a Profile is recorded in Mobio, based on its data source.
1. Overview
- Definition: Configure identifier fields to determine when a Profile from a given source gets recorded in Mobio.
- Value: Ensures customer data from a source is cleansed and accurately unified — preventing duplicates and maintaining data consent compliance.
- Users: System Admin, Data Analyst.
2. Terminology & Configuration Parameters
- Data Source — The channel or system that pushes data into Mobio.
- Identifier Field — The fields used to identify a Profile (e.g., Phone number, Email, CIF, Device ID).
- AND condition — A Profile is recorded only if it contains all fields within the group.
- OR condition — A Profile is recorded if it satisfies at least one of the condition groups.
3. Prerequisites
- Permissions: Your Mobio account must have the
INTEGRATIONRBAC permission: Settings > > Data Sync > Profile Sync Rules. View RBAC access permission instructions here. - Access Path: Go to Settings → Data Integration → Data Sync → Profile Sync Rules.
4. Step-by-Step Instructions
4.1. Add a New Data Source
- On the list screen, click + Add new Data Source.
- Enter a Source Name.
Important: You cannot rename or delete a source after saving. - Configure the Sync Rules for the source:
- Select an identifier fields (e.g., Phone number).
- Click + Add fields to add another field with an AND condition.
- Click + Add condition group to create a new group with an OR logic.
- Configure Consent (in compliance with Decree 13/2023/ND-CP):
- Under Consent Information, set Yes or No for each of the following:
- Tracking Consent — Agree to store and track behavioral data.
- Analytics Consent — Agree to data analytics.
- Marketing Consent — Agree to receive marketing messages. If set to No, the Profile will not receive messages from any Marketing Journey in Mobio.
- Under Consent Information, set Yes or No for each of the following:
- Click Save.
4.2. Configure Default Sync Rules
If incoming data does not include source information, or the source has no configured rules, Mobio falls back to the Default Source rules.
- Select the Default Configuration tab.
- Under Default Source, select a source from the dropdown (e.g., IMPORT FROM FILE).
- Click Save.
5. Operational Rules
- Priority: Mobio first checks rules for the specific source. If no rule is found for that source, the Default Rules apply.
- Source Name: Each source can only be created once and cannot be renamed after saving, to ensure historical data consistency.

- Q: Why can’t I rename a Data Source after creating it?
- A: To protect data integrity. Changing a source name would break reporting accuracy and lose data audit trails.
- Q: What happens if a Profile doesn’t satisfy any rules, including the default rules?
- A: The Profile will not be recorded in Mobio.
