Configure Profile Sync Rules

Define the conditions under which a Profile is recorded in Mobio, based on its data source.

1. Overview

  • Definition: Configure identifier fields to determine when a Profile from a given source gets recorded in Mobio.
  • Value: Ensures customer data from a source is cleansed and accurately unified — preventing duplicates and maintaining data consent compliance.
  • Users: System Admin, Data Analyst.

2. Terminology & Configuration Parameters

  • Data Source — The channel or system that pushes data into Mobio.
  • Identifier Field — The fields used to identify a Profile (e.g., Phone number, Email, CIF, Device ID).
  • AND condition — A Profile is recorded only if it contains all fields within the group.
  • OR condition — A Profile is recorded if it satisfies at least one of the condition groups.

3. Prerequisites

  • Permissions: Your Mobio account must have the INTEGRATION RBAC permission: Settings > > Data Sync > Profile Sync Rules. View RBAC access permission instructions here.

4. Step-by-Step Instructions

4.1. Add a New Data Source

  1. On the list screen, click + Add new Data Source.
  2. Enter a Source Name.
Important: You cannot rename or delete a source after saving.
  3. Configure the Sync Rules for the source:
    • Select an identifier fields (e.g., Phone number).
    • Click + Add fields to add another field with an AND condition.
    • Click + Add condition group to create a new group with an OR logic.
  4. Configure Consent (in compliance with Decree 13/2023/ND-CP):
    • Under Consent Information, set Yes or No for each of the following:
      • Tracking Consent — Agree to store and track behavioral data.
      • Analytics Consent — Agree to data analytics.
      • Marketing Consent — Agree to receive marketing messages. If set to No, the Profile will not receive messages from any Marketing Journey in Mobio.
  5. Click Save.

4.2. Configure Default Sync Rules

If incoming data does not include source information, or the source has no configured rules, Mobio falls back to the Default Source rules.

  1. Select the Default Configuration tab.
  2. Under Default Source, select a source from the dropdown (e.g., IMPORT FROM FILE).
  3. Click Save.

5. Operational Rules

  • Priority: Mobio first checks rules for the specific source. If no rule is found for that source, the Default Rules apply.
  • Source Name: Each source can only be created once and cannot be renamed after saving, to ensure historical data consistency.

6. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Q: Why can’t I rename a Data Source after creating it?
    • A: To protect data integrity. Changing a source name would break reporting accuracy and lose data audit trails.
  • Q: What happens if a Profile doesn’t satisfy any rules, including the default rules?
    • A: The Profile will not be recorded in Mobio.
