Introduction to Data Sources

1. Overview

Definition: Data Sources connect, collect, and sync data from external systems (e.g., sales systems, websites, mobile applications, or internal databases) into Mobio’s centralized repository.
Value: Automates data ingestion and ensures customer profiles are updated in real time or on a set schedule.
Users: System Admin, Data Engineer.

Data Source — The inbound data stream that ingests data from external systems into Mobio.
Connector — The gateway created to receive and process inbound data.
Sync Entity — The target data object in Mobio. Standard entities include: Profile attributes, Dynamic Events (customer interaction data), and Product Holdings (owned products or services).

Permissions: Your Mobio account must have the INTEGRATION RBAC permission.
Access Path: Go to Settings → Data Integration → Data Flow.

Setting up and managing a data source involves three core phases:

Phase 1: Configure a Connector
- Set up a connector from external systems to Mobio. Detailed guide: Create a Connector.
Phase 2: Set Up Sync & Data Mapping
- Map data source fields to Mobio fields and schedule automated sync jobs. Detailed guide: Configure a Data Source.
Phase 3: Monitor Operations & Sync Logs
- Monitor successful and failed records and troubleshoot failures using sync logs. Detailed guide: Monitor Sync Reports & Troubleshoot Issues.

Schema changes: If your source data schema changes (e.g., adding a column or changing a data type), you must update the corresponding mapping configuration in Mobio to avoid sync failures.
