Manage Dynamic Fields and Field Groups
1. Overview
- Definition: Dynamic Fields are custom data attributes you create and organize into Field Groups to capture information unique to your business.
- Benefits: Extend your entities with custom fields tailored to your business.
- Users: Admins, CS/Operations Specialists, Data Management Specialists.
2. Terminology & Parameters
- Field Group — A category that organizes related fields together (e.g., General Info, Hobbies).
- Field — A data attribute stored on an entity. For example, a Profile may include fields such as ‘Lead Segment’ or ‘Monthly Income’.
- Total Fields — Your account’s limit on the number of Dynamic Fields you can create. This varies by Mobio plan.
3. Prerequisites
- Before you begin: Manage Entities on the Mobio.
- Permissions: Your Mobio account must have the
OBJECTRBAC permission. See how to Configure RBAC permissions here. - Access Path: Select Settings → Select Entities → Select the entity type you want to configure (e.g., Profile) → Select the Dynamic Fields tab.
4. Step-by-step instructions
4.1. Manage Field Groups
- Select the
+icon next to the Field Groups heading to create a new Field Group. - Enter the group name and click Save.
- To edit or delete a Field Group: Click the corresponding icon in the group’s row.
4.2. Manage Fields
- To create a new field: Click the Create New Field button in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Enter the required configuration parameters: Field Name, Data Type, and Field Group.
- To edit a field: Click the pencil icon in the field’s row.
- Search for fields: Use the Search box. Mobio displays groups containing matching fields and automatically collapses groups with no results.
4.3. Sort Field Groups
- You can drag and drop Field Groups to change their display order in the list.
- This order is immediately applied when displayed on the corresponding Entity Details screens.
5. Operational Rules
- Mobio always displays the total number of active fields below the search bar, allowing you to monitor your usage.
- Rename Base Fields: Mobio lets you change the display names of all base fields. After renaming, all instances of this field across Mobio (e.g., details screens, filters, reports) automatically update to reflect the new name.
- Identifier Document: You can proactively create new types for identifier fields to support your specific business processes.

- Q: I created a new field, but it doesn’t appear on the Profile details screen. Why?
- A: After creating a field, you need to check the configuration in the Display Location tab to ensure the field is enabled for your desired display location.
